Deborah B. Scheck Interiors, LLC seemed to develop as a logical response to friends and acquaintances asking Deborah for help with their design needs. As people realized she was studying interior design, they started asking her what color to paint their rooms, where to get furniture and how best to set up their homes. With this gradually emerging client base, she drew on skills from her earlier training to create her business.
Setting up a business came naturally to Deborah as her background includes a Masters in Business Administration as well as 6 years as a Consultant and then Manager for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu where she worked on improving operations and organization of various government institutions in developing countries.
Though always interested in design, her formal art education began in the Master's of Interior Design program at the Corcoran School of Art & Design. While studying at the Corcoran, she worked part time for a nationally known and recognized designer and learned how to put the schooling to practical use.
Deborah appreciates design that evokes serenity, practicality and beauty -- creating spaces that provide a bit of a refuge from the chaos of life. She mixes her life-long appreciation for classic and timeless design with clean contemporary lines. In terms of addressing her client's needs and their aesthetic -- be it similar or different from her own -- she looks at the way they live and the things they prioritize. Deborah then applies these ideals to her projects, while, hopefully, adding something new or unexpected that gives her clients a fresh look that they may not have achieved on their own.
